Grandparents Day
Yesterday we welcomed just over 200 of our grandparents and older special friends to our school community. Thank you to Fr Clement and Mrs Kershaw for leading our liturgical celebration. Thank you also to all of visitors - we hope you had a wonderful time visiting our classes as well. Be sure to check out our Facebook page to see the numerous photos taken throughout the morning
Swimming Carnival
Tomorrow our Swimming Carnival will be held at Long Tan Pool. A timetable for the day is included in the Upcoming Events section below. We hope to see many parents and friends join us for this day.
A special thanks in advance to our PE Teacher Ms Alisha Foord for all of the wonderful work and planning she has already done to ensure we have a fabulous event for our school community.
Who will take out the 2023 carnival - Bohle, Ross or Stuart?
Principal Meetings
Next week I will absent on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday attending Principal Meetings. I will have limited access to emails during this time and will respond to matters upon my return to school on Thursday.
Enjoy the rest of your week and go the Cowboys on Saturday!

Good Shepherd Catholic School supports
Caritas Project Compassion.
Last week, Ash Wednesday began the season of Lent, it also marks the beginning of the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Donations to Project Compassion allows Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to alleviate poverty, hunger, oppression and injustice.
We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your
prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Each family will
receive a Project Compassion box for their donations or you can donate online
via the Caritas Australia website at: lent.caritas.org.au
The theme of Project Compassion 2023 is is ‘For All Future Generations’ and
reminds us that the good we do today extends to impact the lives of generations
to come. By donating to Project Compassion, Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, can work with local communities around the world to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
Each family will receive a Project Compassion box and/or a set of envelopes for their donations or you can donate online via the Caritas Australia website at: www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion
Mini Vinnies – Bake Sale Success
I huge thanks you to our wonderful Mini Vinnies members and their family. Our Bake Stall yesterday to raise money for Project Compassion was a impressive success and exceeded what the group made last year. A grand total of $421 was raised to help support those families living in poverty around the world.

Library Borrowing
Developing a love of reading is key to success at school and opens up a world of possibilities to people of all ages. Reading to your children, and ensuring they see you read for enjoyment, helps children see reading as an enjoyable, everyday activity.
At Good Shepherd we are helping promote reading by having dedicated
RAM (Reading Always Matters) time every day in the classroom and introducing a reading area in the Shed every morning before school.
Parents are encouraged to grab a book and read to their children while waiting for the start-of-school bell.
We have also decided to open our school library for parent borrowing every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm until 2.30pm. Parents are able to borrow 10 books at a time and have access to a growing range of parent resources about a range of topics.
Please call in and see our library officer, Wendy, who will sign you up. Happy reading!
Naplan Reminder
Students in Year 3 and year 5 will participate in Naplan testing from 15 March. If you have any
concerns about the tests or your child’s participation in them, please speak to your child’s tacher as soon as possible.
SchoolTV Survey
If you haven’t already done so, please go the SchoolTV site and complete their Wellbeing Barometer – 2023 survey, which can be accessed by clicking below.
This short survey is intended to act as a barometer to help gauge the state of student wellbeing
within the community. The information gathered will enable schools to focus on some of the key
issues and highlight where further assistance may be required. With mental health concerns on the
rise, it is evident that many young people may need some extra support and parents and caregivers
play a vital role in enabling a child’s ability to thrive.
There are surveys for primary and secondary students, and you are invited to complete one or both. Click below to access the surveys. SchoolTV can also be accessed under the Parent tab on our school website.

What's Happening In Our Year 6 Classes?
It has been an action packed first term for us all in Yr 6. Our students have worked exceptionally hard to establish efficient working routines and are doing us proud, following the GSCS Way.
This term our students have received their leadership badges at our first liturgy and have had fun, meeting and working with our Prep Pals in Prep A for reciprocal reading and Shrove Tuesday celebrations. Last week saw a few of our students participate in the Ash Wednesday Liturgy, where they read with confidence. Recently, we completed our weekly swimming lessons at Kylie’s Swim School and now we are ready to show off our competitive side in the swimming pool, at our school Swimming Carnival tomorrow. On Thursday afternoons, our students have been fortunate to have expert coaches come out to our school to teach them how to play Rugby Union, and for the next couple of weeks, we are learning how to play Hockey! Next week some of our students are competing in an Inter School Hockey Gala event and we’re confident they will have fun and represent our school appropriately.
Government Collection of Student Address Data
The Student Residential Address and Other Information Collection (Address Collection) is used and combined with other data to calculate a non-government school community’s capacity to contribute to the costs of schooling. This can influence the level of Australian Government recurrent funding for non-government schools. The information is also used to inform Australian Government school education policy.
Please see the notice of this below:
