It's hard to believe we only have two weeks left in the school year! Preparations are well and truly underway for 2022. Information has been sent home with all families today in relation to our 2022 Transition Day taking place on Tuesday 30 November. This is an opportunity for our students to spend the day with their 2022 Teacher (where possible) and classmates. Our 2022 Teaching staff will be announced next week.
This afternoon we presented our Semester Two Academic Awards. Congratulations to all students who received an award. Be sure to check our Facebook page for photos of the recipients. They will also be announced in next week's newsletter.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Each year at Good Shepherd we help the St Vincent de Paul chapter for the ministerial Region of the Good Shepherd to provide disadvantaged families within our area with a Christmas hamper to help them celebrate Christmas. The St Vincent de Paul chapter also provides vouchers for families to buy meat along with a pumpkin and potatoes to go with each hamper.
Each class will put together a hamper. This year the chapter has asked for specific items to go into each hamper so that all families receive a True Christmas Hamper. Over the coming weeks class teachers will let parents know about the items required.
This is a great way to involve the students in a real act of service to others in this up and coming Christmas period and reminds us all that Christmas is a time of giving to others. It helps us remember that some people in our community don’t have enough money to have a nice Christmas dinner like so many of us enjoy.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask.

Don’t you wish children came with an instruction manual? Parenting is hard, and we are constantly challenged by new issues, having to navigate everything from friendship issues and gratitude to cyber safety and blended families.
Fortunately, we now have access to School TV - It’s not exactly an instruction manual, but it is a one-stop shop for information about the huge range of issues faced by parents and children today.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, make it a priority today! School TV is available FREE via our school website, under the “student” tab, or by clicking the below link.

What's Happening In Our Year 4 Classes
Over the past few weeks the students have been busy developing their design skills. One of their projects was a package that could withstand a fall from a height, not get wet and be environmentally friendly. As part of the investigation the students examined the properties of various packaging materials as well as their impact on the environment. There were some very creative designs with mixed results.
Another project involved the students developing their design and technology skills by using the Scratch program to create an interactive game that could be used to assist students in their learning. The students became familiar with the various coding blocks as well as backgrounds, sprites and sounds. We certainly have some IT wizards in our midst.
Last week our students joined our PAL classes for the Remembrance day service. Students are also practising their writing skills; specifically focusing on their grammar and punctuation skills each day. At this point students are consolidating the correct use of capitalisation, punctuation and grammar. They are practising using speech marks correctly to indicate when a character is speaking out loud.

Be a good gardener – leaves, grass clippings and other shredded garden waste spread over soil inhibits weed growth and retains moisture, which means you have to water less.
