Over the last week we have had a little bit of excitement with the completion of the renovation of our Library. Over the last term I have been working with Mrs Cameron in our Library to create a space that was more inviting and user friendly for our students. We began this process by removing the freestanding bookshelves and constructing shelving around the interior wall. We then met with Greg from BFX Furniture to choose new furniture for the space and were very excited when it all arrived last Thursday afternoon. Mrs Cameron and I were very excited to see it all come together on Friday afternoon and to then see the excitement on the student's faces when they entered the space yesterday. We are confident your children are going to love spending time in this space and invite you to pop in and check it out.
Thank you to Amanda and Cel from our FACE Network for organising another wonderful Mother's Day Stall for our students to be able to purchase some gifts for their Mums ahead of Mother's Day this Sunday. I would like to wish all of our Mums, Step-Mums, Grandmas and Nanas a very Happy Mother's Day for Sunday. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Sunday Gospel
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus gives us a new commandment:
“Love each other as I have loved you.”
This is widely recognised as the greatest commandment, along with Love God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind.
LOVE is one of our Good Shepherd Gospel Values. It can sometimes be a challenge to share our love with everyone but Jesus tells us that we must try.

This Mother's Day and every day, may God bless all our mothers and those like mothers to us!

Next week, students in Years 3 and 5 will take part in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) testing. NAPLAN is a series of tests focused on basic skills that are administered annually to Australian students.
NAPLAN is not a test that students can study for. The best preparation for NAPLAN is
attending school regularly,
arriving at school on time on test days,
having a good night’s sleep,
eating a healthy breakfast.
This year, the majority of tests will be conducted online, with only the Year 3 Writing test being paper-based. Students took part in practise tests during Term One, and are familiar with the process.
Our school’s schedule for the tests is:
• Tuesday 11 May: 9:15 - 10:15 Year 3 Writing (paper), Year 5 Writing (online)
• Wednesday 12 May: 9:15 - 10:15 Year 3 Reading, Year 5 Writing (online), catch up Year 3 writing for any students absent
• Thursday 13 May: 9:15 - 10:15 Year 3 Conventions of Language, Year 5 Conventions of Language (online)
• Monday 17 May: 9:15 - 10:15 Year 3 Numeracy, Year 5 Numeracy (online), catch up sessions for students who have missed online tests (continuing until Friday).
If you have any concerns at all regarding NAPLAN, please speak to your classroom teacher, our Inclusive Practises Teachers, or myself.

We love seeing students taking pride in their work. Yesterday, Jacob from Year 2 shared his hard work about numbers to 100 and three-dimensional objects. Keep up the great work Jacob!!

What's Happening in Our Year 4 Classes
Genre (Book Review)
Year 4 students have been examining the different elements that contribute towards a book review. Short junior fiction texts were examined to develop their understanding of Character Traits, Setting and Plot. We have also started reading our class novel, Violet Mackerel’s Brilliant Plot.
Religion (Trinity and Prayer)
Did you know that each time we make the sign of the cross we are connecting to the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The students examined scripture passages to locate key words and images to help describe the three elements of the Trinity. Students also came up with some clever Trinity designs.
Mathematics (Fractions, Equivalence, Chance, Angles, Multiplication Facts, and Mental Maths)
Students work in small groups, pairs and independently to complete tasks and practice new skills and understandings.

Environmental Tips
Compost is decomposed organic material, such as leaves, grass clippings, and kitchen waste. It provides many essential nutrients for plant growth and therefore is often used as fertilizer. Compost also improves soil structure so that soil can easily hold the correct amount of moisture, nutrients and air.
