From the Desk of the Acting Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the conclusion of Term One, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. This year, we have introduced several important changes, all of which have positively contributed to enhancing our school environment.

A thriving educational setting relies on the strong relationships fostered among parents, guardians, staff, and students. To guide and maintain these relationships, we adhere to a Parents’ Code of Conduct, which is designed to nurture a respectful, supportive, and collaborative community.

Key Principles of the Parents’ Code of Conduct

Briefly, to ensure that our school remains a safe and welcoming environment, we kindly request that all parents and guardians:

  • Demonstrate Respect and Positive Conduct: Reflect our school’s values in your words and actions.
  • Communicate Constructively: Address concerns through appropriate channels, avoiding gossip or hearsay, and utilise proper processes for resolution.
  • Model Good Manners: Show respect and courtesy to all members of the school community, including staff, students, and other parents.
  • Support School Policies and Expectations: Cooperate with the school when addressing student behaviour and follow event protocols, including respecting teachers’ time and instructions.
  • Use Social Media Responsibly: Refrain from posting comments that could impact the reputation of staff, students, or other families negatively.
  • Respect Boundaries: Any school-related concerns should be communicated through official school channels rather than approaching other parents or students directly.
  • Adhere to School and Legal Guidelines: Comply with school rules and Queensland legislation, including restrictions on smoking, vaping, or attending school events while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Breaches of the Code of Conduct

While we trust that parents and carers will contribute positively to our school culture, breaches of the Parents’ Code of Conduct may result in consequences as determined by the school principal. Depending on the nature and severity of the breach, these may include:

  • A request to cease the inappropriate behaviour.
  • Direction to communicate with the school through a designated staff member only.
  • Prohibition from entering school grounds or attending school activities or off-site events.
  • Termination of the enrolment of the child of the parent/guardian in cases of significant or repeated breaches.
  • Involvement of external authorities if deemed necessary.

By signing and adhering to the school’s policies outlined in the Enrolment Application Form, and by continuing to be part of our school community, parents and guardians agree to uphold this Code of Conduct. Please see the Good Shepherd Catholic School website for a more extensive explanation.

 Moving Forward Together

As we enter the holiday period, let us continue to collaborate in building a respectful and supportive school community where every student can flourish. Thank you for your dedication to upholding our school’s values and for contributing to the strength of our community. On Friday the students will celebrate the end of term with lollipops and ice blocks as they welcome in the holidays.

Wishing you all a safe, happy, and restful break. We look forward to welcoming you back for Term Two!

With Blessings,
Annette
Acting Principal

Stations of the Cross

This Thursday 3rd April we will be having a special ‘Stations of the Cross’ liturgy. This assembly will be led some of our Year 6 leaders, who walked us through the ‘Stations of the Cross’ in preparation of the Easter Season. The Stations of the Cross is a form of prayer that is used traditionally during Lent. Each of the 14 Stations retells part of Jesus' Passion (his suffering and death) through images and words. These Stations of the Cross introduce us to Jesus' Passion, breaking it down into stages that they can reflect upon and remember. All parents, carers and community members are warming invited to join us for this special occasion.

As we journey through this Easter season, we are reminded of the immense love and sacrifice that Jesus made for us. Easter is the heart of our Christian faith—the glorious celebration of Christ’s resurrection and the promise of new life. It is a time of renewal, hope, and gratitude for the gift of salvation that God so freely gives.

In the busyness of our daily lives, Easter calls us to pause, reflect, and embrace the joy that this season brings. It is a time to gather as a family, to share in the love and blessings we have been given, and to rejoice in the ultimate victory of light over darkness, hope over despair, and love over fear.

As a school community, we encourage our families to take this opportunity to celebrate together—whether through prayer, attending Mass, sharing a meal, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the love that surrounds us. Let us teach our children the true meaning of Easter: that God’s love is infinite, and His grace is a gift we carry with us each day.

May this Easter fill your hearts with peace, your homes with joy, and your lives with the unwavering hope that Jesus’ resurrection brings.

Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyful Easter!

What's Happening in Year 4

The students in 4 have been enjoying lots of ‘hands on’ activities in Maths and spelling. They have been investigating different angles in the classroom and learning how to measure an angle using a protractor. The students have found many different angles including right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles in different classroom objects. To help the students practise and learn their spelling, they have been engaging in spelling activities such as skipping and spelling and making playdough words.
